The First Act

Before the beginning,

You dwelt in community,

with no other being,

to witness Your glory.

Nothing ugly could be seen,

For evil was not conceived,

without form to deceive,

and unable to be forming.

Self-aware Love,

somewhere above,

the perfect conception,

Of strength, truth, and trust.

Without need or want,

Because you are God,

You willed to create others,

who could choose to be taught.

But the choice to accept,

and approve what is good,

means some would not choose,

to do as they should.

And since You are holy,

righteous, and just,

the rejection of life,

means death is a must.

With reason and goodwill,

on Your mind and face,

you saw how free will,

would unleash Your grace.

So You made earth and life,

By Your voice and breath,

and confounded the wise,

By Your victory in death.
